No Blank Check on Obama's Trade Deal
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
The new Republican congressional leadership thinks the public wants them to help President Obama govern. This is a formula for utter disaster.
For example, leaders of the GOP are prepared to give Team Obama what is called Trade Promotion Authority. It amounts to a blank check to complete and ram through Congress on a take-it-or-leave-it basis something called the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Why anyone on Capitol Hill would think it a good idea to rubber-stamp any deal this President negotiates is beyond me. Think: Obama’s one-sided New START arms control deal with the Russians; his surrender to the Castros; or his utter collapse in negotiations allowing Iran to get the Bomb.
We need a check-and-balance – not a blank check – on Obama’s secretly negotiated and sovereignty-sapping Pacific trade deal.
