The State of the National Security
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Tonight’s State of the Union address affords President Trump an opportunity to describe the state of our national security – and his plans for enhancing it.
Candidate Trump warned of unfair Chinese trade practices and aggression. He sought improved relations with Russia and pledged to return to a policy of “peace through strength.” And, he vowed to defeat “radical Islamic terrorism.”
So, how does he see these challenges now from the perspective of the Oval Office? Communist China is moving to require permission for ships to transit international waters Beijing claims as its own. Russia is amassing ever-more nuclear forces, cheating on its arms control commitments and behaving provocatively. Is a ten-percent increase in defense spending sufficient? And does President Trump still intend to eradicate “radical Islamic terrorism” from the face of the earth?
The American people have a need-to-know.
This is Frank Gaffney.
