It’s the Shariah, Stupid

Recent developments in the Mideast have exposed the fraud that was President Obama’s claim to have “ended the war in Iraq.” Unfortunately, most of us are still unclear about the nature of the enemies still very much in the fight. The confusion has grown as the Obama administration considers aiding Islamists of the Shiite stripe in Iraq against Islamists of the Sunni persuasion – including, evidently, some it has been funding, arming and training in Syria.What these jihadists have in common is that they all adhere to a shared Islamic, supremacist and totalitarian doctrine. They call it shariah and believe that their god, Allah, has decreed shariah will govern worldwide. Once we are clear about what impels our enemies, we have a chance of defeating them. If we aren’t, we won’t. Period.

Mali

The war between jihadists and the West has a new front: the West African nation of Mali, where Islamists now control an area roughly the size of France, which formerly colonized the place.
Declaring that al Qaeda-associated elements must not be allowed to establish and operate from new safe-havens, the French have recently started bombing them in northern Mali.  Reportedly, they are being helped by the United States and the UK.
Ironically, this effort to roll-back the territorial gains of shariah-adherent jihadis comes at the same time the French, British and Americans are helping other Islamists to take over Syria. There are even 750 places in France itself that are no-go zones for non-Muslims.
The West must defeat efforts to impose shariah worldwide.  To do so, however, will require clarity, competence and consistency.

America's Two Wars

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
American diplomats, embassies and assets are being attacked throughout the Middle East and elsewhere.  More such violence is likely, given the perpetrators’ perception of our weakness and submission, creating conditions where we are likely to have to respond forcefully to defend our interests.
Meanwhile, the government of Communist China is allowing anti-Japanese sentiment to be whipped up to the point where a popular frenzy for war with Japan may get out of control.
Suddenly, the Obama administration’s contention that the United States no longer needs to plan or budget to fight two wars at the same time can be seen for what it is: shortsighted, reckless and an invitation to just such a danger.  Gutting our defense capabilities in the name of saving money is a false economy – one we cannot afford to make.

A Time To Reflect On Religious Freedom

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Today is one of the holiest in the calendars of Christianity and Judaism. It’s a good time to consider what’s happening to both faiths at the hands of Islamists.
In Saudi Arabia, the country’s top cleric recently declared that all churches on the Arabian Peninsula must be destroyed. Many have already been attacked in Egypt, now under the sway of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Anti-semitism is on the rise, both in the Mideast and in Europe, much of it fueled by the virulent Jew-hatred promoted by the supremacist Islamic doctrine known as shariah.
Meanwhile, in America, the Obama administration is engaging the Muslim Brotherhood, legitimating and facilitating its rising power. The result will predictably be more favorable treatment for intolerant Islamists, at the expense of Christians and Jews, here and elsewhere.
