McCain recently helped Obama win Senate approval of an amnesty bill largely written by a former top Hispanic community organizer. Then, he undermined Republican opposition to seven far-left Obama appointees, while preserving the Democrats’ ability at any point down the road to take away the minority’s right to filibuster.Now, he’s touting another leftist, Samantha Power, to be the next UN ambassador and upbraiding the nation’s top military officer – largely because Power, like McCain, wants us embroiled militarily in the jihadists’ war in Syria, and Gen. Dempsey is rightly concerned about doing that.The ObaMcCain phenomenon isn’t about laudable bipartisanship. It’s about fundamentally – and disastrously – transforming America. Power's Job Interview

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.The Senate Foreign Relations Committee conducted a job-interview of sorts yesterday. But no prudent businessman would allow a prospective employee to get away with the performance Samantha Power turned in – let alone hire her for a job as significant as America’s next representative to the United Nations.Senator Marco Rubio did what passed for the only serious grilling of this long-time, anti-American leftist. He asked repeatedly what Power meant in 2003 when she denounced “crimes committed, sponsored, or permitted by the United States”? The job applicant kept bobbing-and-weaving, twice by insisting that she loves this country.If Senators allow Samantha Power to get by with such transparent dissembling, they will share responsibility for the poor job performance she is certain to turn in for the American people. Filibuster Perez

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.Republican Senators yesterday preserved for the moment their right to filibuster – and, thereby, block – problematic presidential nominations. Unfortunately, thanks to Senator John McCain’s subversive machinations, the price they apparently paid was their acquiescence to seven of President Obama’s pending appointments.One of those most in need of filibustering is Thomas Perez for Secretary of Labor. He’s a radical leftist who has used his present Justice Department position to promote agendas including empowering Islamists and sabotaging prosecutions – supposedly to advance “civil rights.”The latest examples of what should be behavior disqualifying Perez involve reported Justice Department efforts to stoke racial tensions in connection with the Trayvon Martin case. The Senate's Nuclear Meltdown

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.Today, Majority Leader Harry Reid is threatening to turn the United States Senate into the rough equivalent of the Egyptian parliament under the Muslim Brotherhood. By exercising the so-called “nuclear option,” he would not only eliminate the filibuster on certain presidential appointees. He would take a giant step towards eviscerating the rights of the minority in the Senate, and inevitably over time, those of the rest of us.How bad an idea is this nuclear meltdown? Harry Reid’s Democrats were in the minority when it was previously contemplated. Sen. Reid said then the filibuster was “the last check in Washington on the complete abuse of power” and that removing it by a simple majority, as he proposes to do today, would be “illegal,” “not fair” and “un-American.” Harry, don’t go there. Eric Holder Must Go

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.George Zimmerman has been found not guilty of murdering Trayvon Martin. In response, an extremist group known as the New Black Panther Party reportedly declared “war,” urged others to “take to the streets and stay there” and denounced the “white man’s justice system.”If such race-baiting sounds familiar, that might be because New Black Panther Party members physically threatened white voters in Philadelphia back in November. But the “justice system” Attorney General Eric Holder presides over let them off the hook.Now the man prevented from prosecuting the Panthers, former career Justice Department attorney J. Christian Adams, says Holder’s agency actually sent staff to Florida to “help” stoke racial tensions and demands for Zimmerman to be criminally charged.
