Breaking Our Armed Forces

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
The Obama administration sure seems determined to destroy the U.S. military. The President is insisting on Pentagon spending cuts that are hollowing out our armed forces as he negotiates away our missile defenses and abandons our nuclear deterrent.
Then, there are the serial attacks on the culture of the military, from imposing open homosexuality to obliging women to serve in combat. Army reservists have been trained to view Catholics and evangelical Christians as extremists on a par with al Qaeda. And the Air Force is
taking counsel from someone who thinks Christians in uniform are "monsters" who should be prosecuted for "treason" if they share their faith with other service personnel.
Heaven help us if, after all this, it turns out we once again we need the military our Commander-in-Chief is breaking.

War is Coming

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
The escalating civil war in Syria is raising the specter of assorted jihadists obtaining chemical weapons, as well as lethal man-portable anti-aircraft missiles and advanced surface-to-surface rockets.
Israel is most immediately at risk.  And it has reportedly launched several air attacks aimed at preventing the transfers of such arms. Syria and its ally, Iran, are threatening retaliation and can undertake it, in the region or elsewhere.
The Israelis are not the only ones in the jihadists' cross-hairs.  So are we, as the Boston Marathon bombing last month pointedly underscored.  War is coming to the Middle East and quite possibly to us, as well.  We must stop the hollowing out of our military and we should start reaffirming America's commitment to her first line of defense in that part of the world: Israel.

Japan Goes Nuclear

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
For nearly seven decades, the searing memory of two atomic bombs dropped on its soil and confidence in America's nuclear umbrella kept Japan from deploying its own nuclear arsenal.  That seems about to change.
The Wall Street Journal reports that a nuclear reprocessing plant at Rokkasho is nearly ready to come online, enabling Japan to make enough plutonium for 2,000 weapons.  To be sure, the Japanese haven't announced that intention, but it seems a matter of time.
Welcome to the world President Obama has inspired with his bid to rid the planet of nuclear weapons, starting with ours.  In fact, no other nation is following his lead.  And, all other things being equal, more will likely follow Japan's.
The world still needs a strong U.S. deterrent.  And so do we.

Immigration Deform

The prospects appear to be dimming for the legislative monstrosity known as Comprehensive Immigration Reform.  Perhaps that's because the chickens are now coming home to roost on the previous one.
The last such fiasco might be called "Comprehensive Health Care Reform," but it is popularly known as Obamacare. And even some of its architects are warning that it will be a disaster.
The same will surely be true of the so-called Gang of 8's immigration bill.  Despite their efforts to obscure this reality, the American people are finding out what's in the immigration deform legislation before its enactment, not after.
The Gang's initiative will do to our national security what Obamacare is doing to our nation's health care sector - namely, destroy it.  We must learn from past mistakes, not enormously compound them.

Witness Suppression

Yesterday, President Obama told the White House press corps a doozie:  He claimed to know nothing about witnesses to last year's murderous jihadist attack in Benghazi, Libya being blocked from telling congressional investigators precisely what happened.
Add this question to the many others those investigators still can't answer:  If the President isn't personally engaged in a "witness suppression program" on Benghazigate, who is?  After all, none of the roughly thirty survivors have been allowed to speak publicly or testify on Capitol Hill.
Congressman Frank Wolf and more than 130 of his colleagues are asking for a special committee to ferret out the truth about what happened before, during and after the Benghazi attack. Reckless Denuclearization

President Obama is expected soon to announce that he is once again reducing America's nuclear arsenal, probably unilaterally. He insists such cuts will induce other nations to follow his lead and, in due course, produce "a world without nuclear weapons."
The latest indication that this is dangerous nonsense comes from China.  It seems that the Chinese have abandoned their past, putative commitment not to be the first to use nuclear weapons.  This comes amid reports that they are fielding many more of them, and going to ever-greater lengths to conceal their arsenal.
The Obama policy of denuclearizing the United States is reckless.  It jeopardizes our most important deterrent to aggression from China and other adversaries, and encourages allies to get their own nuclear arms.  We need a course-correction, not more unilateral disarmament.
