Palestinian Unity

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
“Reconciliation” is ostensibly the order of the day in the non-state the United Nations now calls Palestine.  The leaders of the Fatah and Hamas factions will be meeting in Cairo shortly to try to forge a unity government.

One obvious basis for unifying is the fact that the two long-time enemies share a common determination to destroy the Jewish State.  Fatah’s Mahmud Abbas would do so after negotiating a phony peace accord with Israel.  Khaled Mashaal of Hamas insists on skipping that step – a stance that clearly enjoys growing support among Palestinians.

Either way, Israel can’t be expected to negotiate a real and enduring peace with the Palestinians.  It is unreasonable to ask Israelis literally to bet their lives and country on that proposition – and reckless to insist that they do so.

Our Time's Pearl Harbor

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
In 1941, this was a “Day of Infamy.”  An inconceivable thing happened: Imperial Japan, launched a surprise, and devastating, attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in a bid to destroy the only real impediment to its ambition to conquer East Asia – the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Today, most of us once again think it inconceivable that a surprise attack could be successfully launched on this country. And yet, we have reason to believe that hostile nations with their own aggressive ambitions – like Russia, China, North Korea and Iran – have been working on ways to strike our electrical grid that would make what happened to America forty-one years ago look like a day at the beach.

Ask your representatives what they are doing to protect the grid, and ensure that the next Pearl Harbor never occurs.

Morsi Meltdown

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Suddenly, the Obama administration’s massive bet on the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and its elected president, Mohamed Morsi, is being seen for what it is: a mistake of epic proportions.

Anti-Islamist demonstrators recognize that they are about to lose their country, perhaps for decades to come.  Their revolution has been hijacked by the Brotherhood, which is intent on replacing Hosni Mubarak’s secular tyranny with a religious one under their guy.

Sadly, those demonstrators are likely to be brutally repressed  because in the Egyptian revolution – as in virtually all such upheavals – the winner generally turns out to be the most organized, the most disciplined and the most ruthless.  In this case, that means the Muslim Brotherhood.  And it behooves our government to protect us against such groups, not stand with or otherwise help them.

Vote For Sovereignty

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Yesterday, thirty-eight Republican U.S. Senators stood up to intense demagoguery and pressure from the Obama administration and others to protect our sovereignty and constitutional form of representative government.
They voted against ratification of a seemingly unobjectionable treaty protecting the rights of the disabled.  The U.S. actually already has on the books the most sweeping guarantees of those rights of any country in the world.  But this convention would have subjected us to an international committee charged with telling us to pass new laws – and amend or overturn existing ones – at the federal and state levels.
Yesterday’s vote has done nothing to diminish our support for the disabled.  It has, though, protected our constitutional mechanisms for providing that support – and set a precedent for dealing with other, similarly defective treaties now awaiting Senate consideration.

Obama's National Security Fraud

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
President Obama told a meeting of nuclear disarmament enthusiasts yesterday, “We’re moving closer to the future that we seek, a future where [nuclear] weapons never threaten our children again, a future where we know the security and peace of a world without nuclear weapons.”
This statement amounts to national security fraud.  President Obama has to know that such comments are not just misleading.  They are wrong – and dangerously so.
The world is not moving away from nuclear weapons.  In fact, only the United States, thanks to the President’s obsession with our denuclearization, is getting rid of its deterrent.  We are going to face nuclear threats for decades to come.  The question is, given Mr. Obama’s failure to understand that reality or to prepare for it, will America and her people be endangered?

Jeh Johnson

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
According to the Pentagon’s top lawyer, the U.S. effort to destroy al Qaeda is “approaching a tipping point” where the terrorist organization is so “effectively destroyed” that “the group is no longer able to attempt or launch a strategic attack against the United States.”
Jeh Johnson says then America can go back to treating terrorism as a law enforcement and criminal justice matter.  He seems to want return to the pre-9/11 era, even though that approach contributed to the most devastating domestic attack ever.
Unfortunately, al Qaeda, its franchises and, more importantly, others who share its commitment to the supremacy of Islam’s doctrine of shariah – like the Muslim Brotherhood – are not being effectively destroyed.  Rather, they are on the march, and we fail to recognize that and act accordingly at our extreme peril.
