Obama's War

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
The Obama administration is trying to keep Israel from acting to stop the deadly rockets and missiles fired at it from the Gaza Strip. Yet, Mr. Obama’s policies have encouraged the jihadists responsible for such attacks. And his insistence on a cease-fire will have the effect of protecting the perpetrators – and encourage them to redouble their efforts to murder Israelis.
These are the same Obama policies that contributed to the assault in Benghazi, Libya that recently killed four Americans. And they are likely to result shortly in the overthrow of the kingdom of Jordan, and perhaps others in the Persian Gulf.
By engaging, legitimating, enriching, and in some cases arming the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists, Mr. Obama has only emboldened these jihadists. And we are in their cross-hairs, not just Israel.

Attack on Israel

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Yesterday, Israel’s biggest city came under missile attack for the first time in two decades. The missiles came from the Gaza Strip – a hotbed of jihadism controlled by Hamas, which is the Muslim Brotherhood’s franchise there and a designated terrorist organization.
This marks a dangerous escalation in the rocket war Hamas and other Islamists have waged against Israel off and on since the Jewish State foolishly relinquished Gaza to the Palestinians in 2005. Unless something practical is done to eliminate this threat, far larger numbers of Israelis will be subjected to the intolerable, terrifying condition that has, until now, tormented only those who live near Gaza.
That must be the object of Israeli military operations now underway. And America needs to stand by its ally as they proceed and the going gets tough.

Susan Rice

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
President Obama used a White House press conference yesterday to defend UN Ambassador Susan Rice after three U.S. Senators said they would block her confirmation, should he nominate her to become Secretary of State.
Mr. Obama called their opposition “outrageous” because “she had nothing to do with Benghazi.” In fact, Amb. Rice has been intimately involved with the true scandal now dubbed Benghazigate: She has been a driving force behind the administration’s policy of engaging, appeasing and, it appears, arming Islamist enemies of the United States.
If President Obama is so foolish as to nominate Susan Rice to replace Hillary Clinton, he is on notice: It will become what he calls a “teachable moment” about not only her disqualifying shortcomings, but the literally fatally flawed policies she has long promoted and pursued.

Deciphering Benghazigate

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
As Congress prepares this week to conduct hearings into the Benghazi debacle, it must zero in on the true scandal – namely, the predictable, wholesale failure of Team Obama’s embrace of dangerous Islamists overseas and here.

Unfortunately, we have seen how readily legislators and the rest of us can be deflected from such an urgently needed focus.  That’s been the serial effect of: Mitt Romney’s fecklessness in addressing it squarely in the campaign; official disinformation about some video and security conditions before and after the attack; Hurricane Sandy; and now the titillating story of General Petraeus’ extramarital affair.

The Military Culture

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Last week, General David Petraeus confessed to an extramarital affair.  It may have begun when he was the top commander in Afghanistan.  Today, his successor, General John Allen, is under scrutiny – reportedly for a relationship with a woman who, it happens, precipitated the investigation of then- CIA Director Petraeus.

The question occurs:  Is the behavior of these senior officers the exception?  Or are we seeing in their conduct evidence that the culture of the military is showing the effects of the social experimentation designed to make it more like our ever-more-libertine civilian society?

The hard truth is that we need the U.S. military to maintain the high standard of integrity and discipline that has helped it become the best fighting force in the world, and the most admired institution in the country.

Kristalnacht

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Seventy-four years ago, Adolf Hitler’s Nazis unleashed on German Jews a tidal wave of murderous violence. The event became known as Kristalnacht – the Night of Broken Glass – one manifestation of the mayhem inflicted on Jewish businesses, homes and places of worship. It marked an ominous step towards the genocide of the Holocaust.
Today, the lives and property of Christians and other minorities are meeting a similar fate in various places in the Mideast and Africa at the hands of Islamist governments and/or organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, al Qaeda’s Boko Haram in Nigeria and the so-called “rebels” in Syria.
Such treatment of their countrymen is usually a predictor of how adherents to totalitarian ideologies would treat the rest of us. We must not ignore the lessons of Kristalnachts, then and now.
