Holy Land Foundation Ruling

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court declined to revisit the convictions of five jihadists found guilty of raising funds in America for Hamas, a designated terrorist group.  Their 2008 trial in Dallas as part of the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing conspiracy was a watershed moment in the fight against such Islamists in this country.
The successful prosecution of these co-conspirators exposed this Muslim Brotherhood front and its help to an organization sworn to the destruction of our ally, Israel.  The trial also illuminated the Brotherhood’s vast infrastructure in America and its mission here of “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within.”
We need to roll up the other Muslim Brotherhood fronts in this country.  And we need to know now if the Obama administration will ask the Supreme Court to reconsider its decision after the election.

Sandy's Teachable Moment

The only upside from Hurricane Sandy may be that it is a teachable moment. The millions thrust into the dark for protracted periods offer a chance to study closely how the United States – and particularly urban centers – fare without electricity.
It won’t be pretty. In short order, food, water, sewage, transportation, medical care and access to bank accounts are going to be problems. As winter weather descends and people in high-rises struggle with the cold and stairs, lives may be in jeopardy.
A lot depends on how long the power is off. The point is that enemies could attack our electrical grid and shut it down for a year or more. The lesson of Sandy is that we need to make a priority of reducing our vulnerability to electromagnetic and cyber strikes. And we need to do it now.

A Tale Of Two Storms

Barack Obama faces two perfect storms. He may actually be grateful for the meteorological one if it helps obscure the political one.
Hurricane Sandy is, of course, a disaster no one would welcome. Untold numbers of Americans are going to have their lives endangered, or at least disrupted, and the potential economic harm is unimaginable at this point.
The president could nonetheless see a silver lining in this horrific “weather event.” Many voters are going to have other things on their minds besides the evidence that their Commander-in-Chief was seriously derelict regarding the murderous attack in Benghazi – not a decisive wartime leader.
It behooves all of us – and most especially the mainstream media – to stay focused, despite the hurricane-force winds, blackouts and flooding on the insights and lessons of the still-unfolding Benghazigate firestorm.

Obama's Reset

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Monday’s presidential debate will surely address President Obama’s controversial policy towards Russia. After all, it has been a one-way “reset,” with the Kremlin’s Vladimir Putin failing to reciprocate and exploiting Mr. Obama’s serial concessions.
That policy’s recklessness is evident in light of Putin’s aggressiveness with respect to world oil and gas supplies. A deal with BP is in the offing that would increase state-ownership and, therefore, his personal control over Russia’s energy sector. Putin also appears determined to generate opposition on environmental grounds to the use in this country of hydraulic fracturing – a technique being used safely to tap our own, immense oil and natural gas deposits.
Putin’s agenda would enrich him and his regime, while perpetuating and intensifying the energy vulnerabilities of the United States. This sort of reset is intolerable.

Iranian Drones

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
We have been hearing a lot about American drones lately – those pilotless planes that have been used to monitor and, in some cases, to attack our enemies, from Pakistan to Yemen.  We don’t have a monopoly on them, though.
For example, Israeli jets recently intercepted an Iranian drone over the Negev desert – one of a number of these devices the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps now claims it has been sending against the Jewish State for years. While few have the capabilities ours do, their proliferation means that in the future more will be available for use against our allies – and, inevitably, against us.
Indeed, there is evidence that Iran is assembling some of their drones and perhaps other long-range missiles in Venezuela.  That’s  just another reason why the Iranian regime must go.

Debate Postmortem

Last night’s presidential debate provided fresh evidence of two dangerous facets of this election cycle: Barack Obama’s willingness to say – and do – anything to secure reelection, and the media’s determination to help him get away with it.
Asked about the murderous attack in Libya last month, Mr. Obama lied outright, claiming that he had immediately described it as an act of terrorism.  When Governor Romney correctly observed that, actually, the President had insisted repeatedly that it was a response to an offensive video, CNN’s Candy Crowley intervened.  She wrongly asserted that, on the morning after, Barack Obama had depicted it as terrorism.
We need the truth about the dangerous world we inhabit and what is being done by our own government and its shills in the media to make it more so.
