Obama Lied

Critics of the Iraq war have long insisted that President George W. Bush misled the American people by pretending that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction in order to get us into a needless and unjustified war. The meme went: “Bush lied, people died.”
It wasn’t true. George Bush believed what senior Democrats and U.S. and foreign intelligence services believed at the time: Saddam had used such weapons previously and had not verifiably eliminated either his remaining stocks or the capacity to make more.
What we now know, though, is that Mr. Bush’s successor did disinform the American people, denying that a carefully planned jihadist attack in Benghazi, Libya killed four American diplomats on September 11, 2012. Will those once so insistent on presidential truth-telling now say: “Obama lied after people died”?

The OIC at the UN General Assembly

At the UN General Assembly meeting this week, assorted totalitarians, human rights abusers and other despots – many sporting their countries’ exotic traditional costumes and headgear – will strut upon the United Nations’ stage, often to enthusiastic applause from a so-called “international community” made up mostly of their ilk.
The dominant theme of this year’s conclave will probably be the agenda of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Leaders from the 57 members of the OIC can be counted upon to demand an end to speech, videos and other forms of expression that “offend Islam.”
Unfortunately, the Obama administration has repeatedly signaled its willingness to try to appease such demands. It’s bad enough that our president and secretary of state are apologizing for this country’s freedom of speech. We mustn’t let them compromise it.

Obama Working With The Muslim Brotherhood

President Obama reportedly won’t meet after all with the Muslim Brotherhood’s Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi next week. Mr. Obama probably concluded it would be a serious liability as he campaigns for reelection.
It would certainly put a spotlight on Team Obama’s myriad efforts to assist the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and elsewhere, including here. That would be inconvenient at a moment when the Brotherhood is fanning hostility towards America, leading to violence in many places around the globe.
President Obama has, however, yet to rule out another concession to Morsi and his Islamist allies: namely, the release of a convicted terrorist known as “the Blind Sheikh,” Omar Abdul Rahman, who tried in 1993 to destroy the World Trade Center the first time. That dangerous jihadist must end his days in American prison. Period.

America's Two Wars

American diplomats, embassies and assets are being attacked throughout the Middle East and elsewhere. More such violence is likely, given the perpetrators’ perception of our weakness and submission, creating conditions where we are likely to have to respond forcefully to defend our interests.
Meanwhile, the government of Communist China is allowing anti-Japanese sentiment to be whipped up to the point where a popular frenzy for war with Japan may get out of control.
Suddenly, the Obama administration’s contention that the United States no longer needs to plan or budget to fight two wars at the same time can be seen for what it is: shortsighted, reckless and an invitation to just such a danger. Gutting our defense capabilities in the name of saving money is a false economy – one we cannot afford to make.

Amb. Rice Fueling The Fire Of Anti-US Sentiments

Susan Rice sure makes you long for the day when we had as our UN ambassador someone of character and integrity, like Jeane Kirkpatrick and John Bolton. Instead, we have in that job a dissembling political flack.
On five Sunday talk shows, Amb. Rice insisted that Islamist demonstrations in more than 30 countries are due to a “disgusting” and “reprehensible” anti-Mohammed video. This is simply a deflection, calculated to distract Americans from the real cause of viral anti-U.S. jihadism at the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood and its friends: namely, Team Obama’s serial acts of irresolution, weakness and submission.
As long as we permit our government to indulge in such behavior and then lie to us about its predictable repercussions, we will get more of the same – both from our leaders and from our enemies.

Tweeting Submission

Murderously violent attacks on American diplomatic personnel and facilities in the Middle East are what President Obama would call a teachable moment. They put the spotlight at last on the Obama administration’s coddling of Islamist enemies of the United States, and what we will reap as a result.
One example was evident on the day the U.S. embassy in Cairo was overrun by Islamists who tore down and desecrated our flag – and hoisted that of al Qaeda – while the Muslim Brotherhood-led government did nothing. Embassy staffers repeatedly sent Tweets signaling sympathy for Muslims taking offense at a provocative American video.
Governor Mitt Romney has argued that, in the face of these outrages, the United States must stand up for our freedoms, not apologize for them. He’s absolutely right and it’s high time someone said so.
