The Stealth Jihad

Eleven years ago today, Americans woke to what seemed a horrible new world – a world in which something called al Qaeda was trying to kill as many of us as possible.
Tragically, we appear no closer today than on 9/11 to understanding why those attacks occurred.  It was not because the murderers hated us for what we have done.  Rather, they were engaged in jihad – the holy war they must wage according to their totalitarian, supremacist Islamic doctrine called shariah.
Keeping us clueless about shariah is the purpose of the group that spawned al Qaeda, and that is the prime-mover behind the effort to impose that doctrine worldwide: the Muslim Brotherhood.
It’s past time to wake up, America: The stealthy subversive jihadists of the Muslim Brotherhood are every bit as dangerous as those who perpetrated 9/11.

China's Underground Great Wall

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
During meetings in Beijing this week, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton got a taste of the unhappy prospects for U.S.-Chinese relations as her hosts increasingly perceive their nation to be a rising power, and ours a declining one. 
Here’s a reason why:  In recent weeks, Communist China has launched four new types of long-range ballistic missiles.  Some will be outfitted with multiple nuclear warheads and deployed in a complex of three-thousand miles of hardened tunnels known as the Underground Great Wall.
By contrast, the United States has no new nuclear missile programs and its deterrent is obsolescing.  Worse, if President Obama has his way, this country will unilaterally eliminate its land-based missile force.  Think China is behaving aggressively now?  Just wait until we increase its relative strength further, by weakening our own.

Obama Abandons Israel

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
In October 2001, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon issued a prophetic warning: “Do not repeat the dreadful mistake of 1938, when enlightened European democracies decided to sacrifice Czechoslovakia for a ‘convenient temporary solution’.” He declared: “Israel will not be Czechoslovakia.”
Tragically, President Obama today is increasingly treating Israel as Western leaders did in abandoning the Czechs seventy-four years ago. He is signaling to a genocidal regime in Iran that the Jewish State is on its own – a signal like that Hitler turned into the world’s worst bloodletting.
This is how wars begin. If it is how President Obama behaves on the eve of a national election in which Jewish votes may be critical to his bid for a second term, imagine how he will treat Israel if he has “more flexibility” post-November.

Deciding Our Future

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
It’s Labor Day, the official end of summer for most of us and, for politicians, the beginning of the end-game of the 2012 election. Voters are said to wait until now to start focusing on the candidates and to make up their minds who they will support.
The truth is that most of us have long since decided with respect to the presidency. We understand the choice before us and are ready to make it.
To those of you who have not, it’s time to get focused. The stakes are tremendously high and the choice is stark. So, enjoy this Labor Day and then get back to work – some of the most important work any of us do: the deciders in the future of greatest country the world has ever known.

Putin Bails On Assad

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Rumor has it that the Russians are bailing out on Syrian dictator Bashir Assad. This is an important straw in the wind since Russian President Vladimir Putin has been one of Assad’s most aggressive defenders.
By casting vetoes at the United Nations and inserting naval forces at a Syrian base in the eastern Mediterranean, Putin has stood with, and protected, Assad. Those units are reportedly pulling out, possibly clearing the way for the Obama administration to become more directly engaged in the intensifying war to overthrow another despot it once courted.
This could get really messy. The various alternatives – virtually all of whom are hostile to us, the infusion of ever-increasing armaments and the possibility that chemical or biological weapons will be unleashed may leave us nostalgic for Assad and his Russian friends.

Obama's Misleadership

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
The Republican Party has found a theme that speaks to one of the most important indictments of the Obama presidency.  In remarks last night in Tampa, several of those who addressed the GOP convention denounced the practice of “leading from behind.”
President Obama became forever associated with this peculiar notion of American leadership when his surrogates claimed that’s how he was helping others secure the overthrow of a man his administration once considered an ally, Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi. 
The truth is, when America doesn’t assume the sort of leadership role that works – leading from in front, providing real direction and actually shaping the outcome – you get led around by the nose.  In Libya and elsewhere that has meant empowering the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda. We can’t afford more such misleadership.
