Egypt's Morsi

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met over the weekend with the Muslim Brotherhood’s new president of Egypt.  Then she went off to Israel, reportedly conveying Mohammed Morsi’s assurances that he would preserve the 1979 peace treaty between his country and the Jewish State.
Unfortunately, there’s ample reason to regard such assurances as taqiyya – the practice approved by the Islamic doctrine of shariah of lying for the faith.  For instance, Morsi beamed as a fellow Islamist kicked off his campaign by calling for “millions of martyrs to march toward Jerusalem.”
Israel would be foolish to take at face value Morsi’s promises, or Hillary Clinton’s fatuous crediting of them – let alone consider heeding her calls for more concessions to resuscitate the perilous program for dismantling the Jewish State known as the “peace process.”

The True Nature of Sharia

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Americans are getting to know the true nature of shariah – the repressive, supremacist doctrine the Muslim Brotherhood, the Iranian regime and other Islamists want to impose worldwide. 
They are seeing videos of women being murdered on the pretext of having committed adultery.  They are learning of churches being burned, Christians attacked and calls for all of them to be destroyed. 
Not content with killing fellow human beings, Islamists from Afghanistan to Mali have waged war on artistic symbols of human achievement.  Now, some say they should destroy Egypt’s wondrous Pyramids on the grounds that they are products of a non-Muslim tradition.
One thing is clear: The more we get to know shariah, the less we are going to accept efforts by President Obama or others to allow it to be brought here.

Rep. Keith Ellison

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Representative Keith Ellison of Minnesota, the first Muslim Member of Congress, recently attacked a colleague from his delegation, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.  He objects to a request she and four other legislators have formally made for the State Department’s Inspector General to assess ties Huma Abedin, Secretary Hillary Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff, has to the Muslim Brotherhood.
At issue is whether they may be contributing to the succession of decisions by Mrs. Clinton and others that have proven enormously beneficial to the Brotherhood, both here and elsewhere.
At MuslimBrotherhoodinAmerica.com, the Center for Security Policy established ample cause for concern about the Obama administration’s exposure to Muslim Brotherhood influence operations being mounted from “inside the wire.”  Rep. Ellison should not be trying to suppress or prejudge the needed investigation.

Arms Treaty

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
The United Nations is increasingly understood to be dysfunctional, corrupt and virulently anti-American.  Incredibly, the Obama administration is seeking new ways to subordinate our sovereignty and even our constitutional rights to it.
The UN is expected shortly to finish negotiations on a new treaty governing the international arms trade.  It will interfere with our ability help defend allies like Israel and Taiwan. Worse yet, it will be used as a vehicle for Team Obama to impose gun control wholly inconsistent with Americans’ right to bear arms.
The Senate is unlikely to approve such a treaty. Yet, it could still bind us if – as expected – President Obama signs it.  Every effort must be made to dissuade him from doing so.  An election year should be the perfect time to do that.

Egypt

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
In Egypt, the relatively pro-Western, U.S.-armed military is in a power-struggle with that nation’s newly installed Muslim Brotherhood president, Mohammed Morsi.  The stakes could scarcely be higher for these rivals, for the region and for us.
If the Brotherhood succeeds in consolidating its grip on not only the presidency but the authorities vested in the legislative branch, it will be able to write a new constitution, establish Islam’s totalitarian shariah code as the law of the land and act on Morsi’s declared objective of “liberating” Jerusalem.  Worse yet, the Brotherhood’s larger, stated mission is to destroy Western civilization.
President Obama has invited Mohammed Morsi to visit the White House. He is unmistakably taking sides in the internal struggle within Egypt – and encouraging the triumph of some of our most dangerous foes.

Pink Slips

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
For almost a year, the United States military has been a pawn in official Washington’s game of chicken over the yawning deficit.  As things stand now, the defense budget will be driven off a cliff in January when half-a-trillion dollars in additional cuts start to kick in – wreaking havoc on the troops and all they do for our security.
Fortunately, some are having second-thoughts about this dangerous game.  Sadly, that’s not due to sudden concerns about the risks they are running for this country. Rather, it’s because pink-slips will have to go out to perhaps more than a million, highly paid defense sector employees just before the November election.
Whatever the impetus, Washington must not allow this game of chicken to endanger not just our armed forces, but all the rest of us.
