UNESCO Says Yes To Palestine

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.  
I never thought I would live to see the day when the Palestinians were actually doing something helpful to the United States, Israel and other freedom-loving people.  Today may just be that day.
 
Not that that is the Palestinians’ intention, mind you, when they seek to become full-fledged members of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – better known as UNESCO.  But it might just be the effect.
 
That’s because under U.S. law, admitting the Palestinians to UNESCO would trigger a cut-off of the 80 million dollars per year we give that notoriously corrupt and hostile organization.  It would also be a booster-rocket behind new legislation recently approved by the House Foreign Affairs Committee that would make all such UN contributions voluntary, instead of obligatory.
 
Go ahead, Palestinians, make my day.

DHS Guidelines For Fighting America's Enemies

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.  
Imagine if, during the Cold War, Soviet intelligence had been responsible for training those charged with countering communist aggression?  Surely, we would not have defeated the USSR. 
 
Yet, today, the Obama administration is entrusting to agents of the Muslim Brotherhood the responsibility for approving who and what is used to give counter-terrorism training to our military, law enforcement and intelligence personnel.
 
That’s right, under guidelines recently promulgated by the Department of Homeland Security, self-styled “leaders” of the Muslim-American community must be consulted and approve such training.  The federal government has proven in court that such leaders and their organizations are – virtually without exception – tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization whose mission is “destroying Western civilization from within, by [our own] hands.”   
 
These lunatic guidelines invite disaster, and must be rejected.

Secretary of Defense Assures Our East Asian Allies

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.  
Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta is visiting Asia, assiduously assuring our East Asian allies like South Korea that the United States will always stand with them.
 
But will we?
 
Secretary Panetta has also said that incipient defense budget cuts will preclude the kind of US presence and power-projection capability around the world that we’ll likely need more than ever in the future.
 
The question occurs:  If such cuts do take place and, as Secretary Panetta has promised, we are going to stay in the Western Pacific, where won’t we be?  Will we abandon the Persian Gulf?  Or the Eastern Mediterranean?  Or how about Latin America?
 
Leave our interests in such places undefended and there will be grave repercussions for our economy, as well as our national security.  We must keep peace through strength.

The World is a More Dangerous Place

One of President Obama’s most controversial and dangerous policies is the least debated by our country; he wants to rid the world of nuclear weapons. What should alarm every American is that Mr. Obama thinks the way to achieve this ambitious goal is to allow the aging U.S. deterrent to wither away. He refuses to allow true modernization of our arsenal or realistic testing, necessary to ensure our obsolescent weapons remain safe, reliable and effective.
The trouble is that no other nuclear power, actual or incipient, is abandoning its weapons programs, not one. In fact, everyone else is building up their nuclear arsenals.
Communist China has even constructed a three thousand mile underground tunnel to conceal its growing nuclear missile force.
Unilateral U.S. disarmament will make the world more dangerous, not less.

Willful Blindness

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
On three occasions in recent weeks, hotels that have contracted to host conferences on the totalitarian Islamic doctrine known as Shariah have cancelled. In Houston, Annapolis and Nashville, the reason appears to be intimidation. Whatever the pretext, the effect of these cancellations is palpable: Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of speech and assembly in America are being restricted.
Our countrymen are being subjected to what amounts to shariah blasphemy laws that proscribe expression any Muslims find offensive – even if true. Unfortunately, similar constraints are being applied by the U.S. government under President Obama. Experts who understand the inspiration shariah provides to jihadists of both the violent and the stealthy, pre-violent type are now being barred from training counterterrorism professionals.
This is not “political correctness.” It is willful blindness and it will get us killed.

Support the Troops

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
Everybody says they support the troops.  But what if our troops don’t have the modern planes, tanks, ships, and other weapons they need to do their missions and keep us safe?
In the past, our weakness has proven provocative, prompting enemies to act aggressively at great costs to our country and interests.  Yet, right now, cuts in our investments in national defense are being considered in Washington that even President Obama’s Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, calls “worse than shooting ourselves in the foot.”  He says, “we would be shooting ourselves in the head.”
If the troops are to do their duty, we have to do ours.  According to the Constitution, that means the federal government must provide for the common defense.  Let’s really support the troops, tell your representatives there is no substitute for “Peace through Strength.”
