World War III

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.Last night, President Obama reaffirmed his fairy tale approach to the Syrian civil war. Like Goldilocks, he’s set on the “just right” outcome. Not a “pin-prick” – he warned “the U.S. military doesn’t do pinpricks.” But not too much, either. Rather: an attack he assures us will entail only “modest effort and risk and save children in Syria from being gassed.” But then he said we’re going to wait for the Russians and Bashir Assad to eliminate Syria’s vast chemical stockpile. Meantime, doubts about his plan are certain to grow, especially as a new YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-sdO6pwVHQ) goes viral with a spoof of Obama supporters mindlessly crowd-funding his effort to start World War III. Unfortunately, unlike this funny video, what Obama is doing to make the world more dangerous is no laughing matter. This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. A Win for Russia and Assad
Tuesday Sep 10, 2013
Tuesday Sep 10, 2013
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.Yesterday’s developments concerning Syria prompt mixed emotions. On the one hand, the Russian gambit to put Bashir Assad’s chemical weapons under international control effectively checkmates President Obama’s proposal to punish the Syrian dictator for using such arms. Those who saw this as an ill-advised and dangerous idea – including apparently majorities in both Congress and the public – are relieved that it isn’t going to happen. On the other hand, neither is Assad’s chemical disarmament. As a practical matter, it’s impossible to find, let alone neutralize, a large, dispersed and covert chemical stockpile in a secretive nation amidst a civil war. Period. President Obama may try to spin this as a triumph for his threats of military action. Whatever one thought of those threats, though, the outcome is a win for Russia and Assad. This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Learn more at SecureFreedom.org.

Common Sense
Monday Sep 09, 2013
Monday Sep 09, 2013
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.Team Obama’s public campaign to embroil the United States in Syria’s civil war has kicked into high gear. The President’s senior subordinates have been warning incessantly about the costs of inaction, and making preposterous promises about the benefits of conducting a limited attack on Bashir Assad’s regime. This week, President Obama will do so, too, with a saturation round of TV appearances tonight and an address to the nation tomorrow. Will all this lobbying work? Will skeptical legislators ignore their constituents – who overwhelmingly recognize the folly of this proposal – and do as the White House and some Republicans demand? Not if the common sense of most Americans prevails, as common sense tells us our attacking Syria will not make things better. Rather, it likely will make matters worse, and probably much worse. This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Learn more at SecureFreedom.org.

O'Bagy's Conflict of Interest
Friday Sep 06, 2013
Friday Sep 06, 2013
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. If President Obama actually launches air strikes to “change the momentum of the battlefield” in Syria, one woman may be more responsible than just about anybody else. Her name is Elizabeth O’Bagy and her assessments of the nature and relative influence of the so-called “moderates” she claims could take over from Hafez Assad have been cited as authoritative by Secretary of State John Kerry, Senator John McCain and press outlets like the Wall Street Journal and NPR.But O’Bagy is hardly an objective source. Largely undisclosed is her role as a paid consultant and political director for the Syrian Emergency Task Force, which seeks arms and help for Assad’s opposition. That is a blatant conflict of interest – and a scandal if allowed to influence whether America goes to war in Syria. This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Go-Code for al Qaeda in Syria
Thursday Sep 05, 2013
Thursday Sep 05, 2013
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee yesterday approved a resolution green-lighting the attack President Obama is intent on launching in Syria. A bipartisan majority would permit military strikes to “change the momentum” in Syria’s civil war. Since that authorization is directly at odds with the sentiments of the American people – who oppose intervention in Syria by at least 56 to 19 percent – the Committee’s members must have found the arguments of the critics unpersuasive. Oh wait, the Committee actually didn’t take testimony from any critics. That’s right, Senators have only heard from administration witnesses, all of whom unsurprisingly support the President’s plan for military strikes that would help al Qaeda overthrow Syria’s dictator. If this sounds to you like a recipe for disaster, you might let your representatives know. This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Learn more at SecureFreedom.org.

More War
Wednesday Sep 04, 2013
Wednesday Sep 04, 2013
This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.President Obama’s national security team went to Capitol Hill yesterday and proceeded to insult our intelligence. For example, Secretary of State John Kerry rebuked Senator Rand Paul for calling Mr. Obama’s plan for attacking Syria a prescription for a wider war. Kerry insisted it will be nothing more than a carefully orchestrated and very limited strike. Never mind that the enemy has a say in whether it results in a war or not.Meanwhile, the war’s leading congressional cheerleader, Senator John McCain, criticized Fox News for being troubled about allying with Syrian rebels who shouted “Allahu Akhbar” after shooting down a Syrian jet. McCain insisted they are just like Christians thanking God and guaranteed “moderates.” Jihadists are not like Christians, and helping them conquer Syria is a formula for more war. This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
