The 20th anniversary of the summit Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev had in Reykjavik, Iceland is being marked in a curious way. At the Reagan Library, officials of his administration, prominent foreign figures and others are meeting to promote an idea the former President would never have countenanced.
Former Secretaries of State George Shultz and James Baker will be among those calling for the global elimination of all nuclear weapons. While that was a goal President Reagan aspired to in the very long run, during his administration and under present circumstances it is simply impossible.
Only one nation might actually rid itself of nuclear arms: The United States of America. Every other nation that has nuclear weapons – or aspires to have them – is building more, not abandoning their arsenals.
Ronald Reagan rejected U.S. unilateral disarmament, and so should we.

Power of Information

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Five thousand years ago, the famous Chinese strategist Sun Tsu observed that it is better to defeat your enemies without having to fight them. His successors certainly understand that reality. But our leaders don’t seem to get it.
Unlike the Communists in China and actual or potential adversaries elsewhere, our government simply does not recognize the power of information which, if used effectively, can undermine our foes and help ensure our victory over them.
For years, the US has been unilaterally disarming in the War of Ideas, shutting down the Voice of America’s native language broadcasts to Russia, the Middle East, India and Brazil. Next may be broadcasts to China.
If we have any hope of securing our freedom without more needless wars, these actions must be reversed. The sooner the better for us, and for our target audiences. This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Learn more at securefreedomradio.com.

Support the Troops

Everybody says they support the troops. But what if our troops don’t have the modern planes, tanks, ships, and other weapons they need to do their missions and keep us safe?
In the past, our weakness has proven provocative, prompting enemies to act aggressively at great costs to our country and interests. Yet, right now, cuts in our investments in national defense are being considered in Washington that even President Obama’s Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, calls “worse than shooting ourselves in the foot.” He says, “we would be shooting ourselves in the head.”
If the troops are to do their duty, we have to do ours. According to the Constitution, that means the federal government must provide for the common defense. Let’s really support the troops, tell your representatives there is no substitute for “Peace through Strength.”

Anwar al-Awlaki

The recent liquidation of one of America’s most wanted enemies in the deserts of Yemen is a welcome, tactical victory in what I call, the War for the Free World. Anwar al-Awlaki was a particularly dangerous foe because he was an articulate, English-speaking American citizen with a demonstrated ability to use the internet to reach and inspire a worldwide audience. He was involved in at least three terrorist plots against this country.
We can only hope that his death will make it harder for his organization, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, to kill more of our countrymen. Gratifying as such assassinations are, however, they do not mean we are defeating al Qaeda, let alone winning the War for the Free World. To do that, we must counter what impels such jihadists, the toxic, supremacist doctrine they call, “Sharia.” This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. Pastor Youcef

This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute.
An innocent man has been sentenced to hang in the Islamic Republic of Iran. And what was Youcef Nadarkhani’s supposed crime? He is a Christian pastor who has been convicted of having left Islam and therefore of being an apostate.
According to the law of the Koran, the barbaric, supremacist Islamic code known as shariah, apostasy is a capital offense. Even though the prosecution could not prove that Pastor Youcef had ever been a Muslim, the shariah inherent and shariah imposing Iranian regime appears determined to murder and martyr this innocent man. Unfortunately, what the Mullahs of Tehran would do to him, they would do to Israel, and for that matter to us. If they get nuclear weapons, none of us will be safe. We must not let that happen for the Pastor’s sake and ours. The time to act is now.
